If you thought National Novel Writing Month (Nanowrimo) was a little too insane, Script Frenzy - the contest to write a 100 page script in a month might be up your alley. Instead of trying to write 50,000 words in a month, you try to write 100 pages of script - which is a lot less writing. I think the lower level of challenge has something to to with its lesser success (only around 6,000 people are participating in Script Frenzy, compared to 100,000 for Nanowrimo), but what it loses in sheer herculean challenge it makes up in variety. Participants are encouraged to write plays, movies, tv series, and comic books.
Personally, I'm going to branch out beyond those suggested targets. If all goes well, by this time next month I'll have written an adventure game.
I'm not certain since the site isn't active yet, but I think you'll be able to track my progress here.
I just noticed your post, and I am impressed, James. NaNoWriMo is almost completely out for me because I am typically working most during Nov/Dec, but this seems a little more up my alley. I might try to join you next year.
I'm curious, what moves you to write so much? I have always loved science fiction and had several ideas that have never really made it past a few pages of rough draft, but I have so many other things I love doing that it seems to get put on the back burner. Have you always wanted to write, or were you just along for the ride last NaNoWriMo and it was the spark that started the fire?
Also, there doesn't seem to be any tracking going on at that link, but I didn't register, so maybe that's why...

I think perhaps there's no tracking at that link because James gave up on Script Frenzy and never entered a page count. No shame in that. He finished NaNoWriMo, so I can't really give him any crap.

Looks like it's that time of year again, eh James? Time for the annual updating of the blog. Oh -- and Script Frenzy, too.

I'll second that! I'm writing a script this year, James, and I'm encouraging all who have ever had any interest whatsoever to join in.
Things have come back to haunt you. Your last post was this time last year--perhaps this is a good excuse to revive your blog.
